Bushy Park

As a family we love getting outside exploring, finding new playgrounds to explore and watch of wildlife. When we heard of Bushy Park in Hampton Greater London, we knew it would tick all our boxes.

Bushy Park is the second largest Royal Park, and its history stretches back over a thousand years. There are over 300 deer and they have been free roaming since the time of King Henry VIII. We were very lucky to actually see the deer up very close and take in all their beauty.

We had a lovely walk around Bushy Park taking in all the different wildlife which we spotted on our walk, there were lots of birds, insects, dogs being walked and most famously the deer. Isabella absolutely loved them and kept calling them Bambi.

There is something so beautiful about seeing these animals in their natural habit and watching their elegance up close. We watched the deer for ages (keeping our distance of course) but just taking it all in.

There sd also a small coffee place just next to the car park aswell, so a great little stop for getting hot and cold refreshments, plus a limited selection of food options too.

We then headed across the field to the playground – this was all safely enclosed by a fence (great idea as there is a lot of open space for the children to escape to and run)! At first glance we noticed that the playground had been split into different sections so was easy to see which area would appeal to the age children you had.

There was a lot to do in this playground, the first section there is a huge sandpit area – so definitely take along some sand toys for your trip also. A bonus for parents is that the sand pit is sunken into the ground, meaning that there is plenty of seating around the edge for you to sit and supervise.

We then came across a wooden wobbly obstacle course, where Bella had to balance her way along the bridges and then down the swinging steps. There was also swings and a sea saw in this area, plus a huge wooden climbing structure. Bella did try and climb her way through the wooden maze but wasn’t a fan of going too high.

The basket swing in the middle was a huge hit, Bella spent ages swinging back and forth, and going round and round on this swing. There was a lot of open space around here so the children could swing very very fast, and there were alot of giggles on this too.

In total there are three separate climbing structures for the children to enjoy. Each one was slightly different but they all had slides on them. There were fireman poles, rope ladders, wobbly bridges, climbing walls, and interactive play bards to enjoy.

This was such a great playground, and having so much open space outside it was the perfect place to kick a ball around or take a frisbee. We also took a picnic blanket and enjoyed sitting down soaking up the sunshine with a yummy ice cream too.
