The Christmas Mansion at Tatton Park
22 November, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 1 January, 2023 @ 5:00 pm
Once Upon a Pantomime
We went on a magical visit to the Mansion at Tatton Park as it was transformed into all your favourite pantomimes. Each room was amazingly decorated as if sets in the theatre, family favourite such a Peter Pan and Cinderella were quite literally brought to life. Along with the beautiful scenes you could walk through, you were also met by Captain Cook, the Pantomime dame and the fairy godmother herself.
These interactive characters were a great addition to the mansion and the pantomime dame had both children and adults laughing at his jokes.
At the first scene we spotted a cat randomly in the set and then another in the next room so then we started to look for them, and sure enough there was one of Dick Whittington’s cats in every room as at the end there was a poster asking how many did we spot. This is a great little extra activity especially for little guests but it would have been better to know from the start as we hadn’t actually been counting them and was pure luck we spotted them as they weren’t always easy to find.
As you walk through the mansion there is music and magic in every room. Travel through Robin Hood’s forest, tip toe around the bedroom of Peter and Wendy before arriving at Neverland. Watch out for the giant at the top of Jack’s towering beanstalk and see if you can wake Sleeping Beauty.
My 8 year old daughter really enjoyed walking into each scene and trying to guess what fairytale it was. There is a board in each room telling you what Pantomime it’s about and also some interesting facts about it.
The last room is the servants quarters and this is where you will meet the Fairy Godmother as she is preparing for the ball. But she’s lost 3 of the little white mice that she needs to turn into the carriage horses. Can you help her find them? There is also a tasty treat to take home as the fairy godmother has made some magic flapjack.
The last little activity was such a cute one. It was a tree where you could write your Christmas wish on a little tag and then hang it on the tree in the hope it would come true. There were some lovely ones already on the tree which we read and really had the true meaning of Christmas about spending time with the people we love.
This is a great Christmas activity for all ages. I would say its takes about an hour to go around the mansion. Its great to also pair with a walk around Tatton Gardens or the parkland and why not pop into the restaurant for a little treat afterwards.
Its on from 22 November 2022 – 01 January 2023 and there are plenty of dates still available.
Adults – £12
