Looking for a fun and active way to spend time with your kids? The climbing wall at Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre in St Albans is a fantastic spot for families. Whether your little ones are seasoned climbers or just starting out, there’s something for everyone.
We took our 4 year and 5 year old this weekend for their first NICAS Wild session and they absolutely loved it. The class lasts 60 minutes and can be a mixture of climbing and bouldering, all geared at getting the children on the walls, building their confidence and developing the skills and knowledge to become little climbers!
Parents must stay in the viewing area during the class, and the only thing you would need to ensure is your child is dressed in comfy clothes and trainers they can climb in. All the other equipment (harness and helmet) are provided.
A huge shout out to the staff too who were professional, reassuring so friendly and kept the whole class engaged. We can’t wait to come back!
St Albans Climbing Wall Facilities
The centre boasts a 12-meter climbing wall with 14 rope lines, catering to all skill levels. For the younger climbers, there’s a dedicated children’s wall designed to make climbing both fun and safe.
Climbing Lessons for Kids

There’s a cafe at the leisure centre too with a variety of food and drink options to refuel after your activities. The cafe has a small play area too which is perfect to enjoy your hot drink while the kids play!
